In 1789, a bay colt named "Figure," later known by his owner's name Justin Morgan, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. Because of this stallion's remarkable ability to sire foals in his own likeness, the breed that shaped America was born.
Morgans were used in the pioneering of the West, as cavalry mounts, and as the most stylish road horses of the day. Morgan blood was used in establishing such breeds as the Standardbred, American Saddlebred, American Quarter Horse and Tennessee Walking Horse, all of which enjoy popularity today.

Though it's out of print, you may still be able to rent the Walt Disney movie, Justin Morgan Had A Horse. It provides an entertaining and reasonably accurate history lesson.
We are proud to say that President Ronald Reagan used Morgan horses in his inaugural parade. Today, Morgans are competing well in many disciplines, including dressage, jumping, carriage, marathon driving, hunter, English and Western Pleasure, cutting and reining, and others. Morgans are being used to help rehabilitate people with paralyzing injuries and have proved suitable mounts for handicapped children. Morgans are the ideal Pony Club and 4-H mount.
Morgan
horses, because of their unflappable disposition and courage, are used by mounted police in Denver, Seattle, Chicago, New York and other major cities. Plus, they are beautiful!
The Bluebird Morgan Farm was founded in 1991 with foundation sire, Iron Forge
Royalty, son of Something Blue, grandson of HVK Santana. Our first brood mare mare was
Dakota Bay Solaire, granddaughter of Upwey Ben Don. The first foal from this
"golden cross" is our beloved mare, Bluebird Betty, now owned by our
daughter, Sarah. There have been
several more full siblings.
In 1991 we also acquired Iron Forge Ebony Jewell, sister of our foundation stallion. In 1997, we added Benne's Christina to our brood mare string and she has produced two sport Morgans. In 2000, we added a Saddleback Senator daughter, TPH Chardonnay and a junior stallion prospect, Dream Brigade.
We are continuing to propagate the very beautiful Beamington - Upwey Ben Don - Orcland Leader lines.
